Bar 9 Central

Adelaide's cafe scene has come a long way in recent years, with places like Please say Please, Coffee Branch, Coffee Barun and Bar 9 showcasing some seriously fantastic coffee and barista skills. Bar 9 could be considered one of the original boutique Adelaide coffee specialists, and are certainly one of my favourites when I need a quality caffeine hit. Some free time after brunch and before a movie saw me and a friend needing a coffee and somewhere warm to hide out on a crazy cold Adelaide day, so Bar 9 Central off of Rundle Mall it was.

I ordered a long black, my friend a flat white and as usual the coffee was spot on. Not too hot, not cold, rich, full bodied, no bitterness and complex rounded flavours that only the best kind of coffee has. A long black is my usual coffee of choice and in all honesty there is nowhere to hide when it comes to one of these, the lack of milk makes any kind of bad barista skills and burnt or average beans very evident. Bar 9 have yet to disappoint, every visit here I have enjoyed coffee nirvana in a cup. We also snuck in some cheeky nutella biscotti's which were pretty delicious! Golden, buttery biscuit filled with chunky hazelnuts and a generous, thick layer of nutella, these home style treats were divine dipped into my coffee. Service was fantastic, the staff are always full of smiles, friendly and chatty, if your looking for a coffee in Rundle these guys are one of the best :)
