Eggless Onsie/PJ Night

Regular readers of my blog would know I simply love Eggless. Not only is the food amazing but Ken the owner is a legend, every single one of the staff are gems and the chef... well all I can say is Ken is one lucky man as she is a goddess of dessert creations. This post is a quick review of the Onsie/PJ themed night they held in July that saw me out in public in the below hot pink onsie :)

To start with I had a morrocan mint tea, and my friend had a plunger coffee. The tea was refreshing, with a great clean mint flavour that was complemented perfectly with the recommended addition of a tiny bit of sugar.

As always the menu here changes monthly and on this visit we could choose from the July picks or from the theme night specials. We decided to go with July's molten pudding (with the flavour of the night being strawberry/chocolate), the Tim Tam Trifle and the caramel carnival (both theme night specials).

The molten pudding was a pink sponge type pudding with a gooey, hot chocolate centre. The sponge was light, fluffy and had a very sweet fruity strawberry taste whilst the chocolate was rich, smooth and combined nicely with the sponge to give it a pudding texture. The ice-cream was, as on every other occasion, fantastic, smooth and creamy with no iciness/grittiness.

The Tim Tam trifle was the clear winner of the night for both my friend and I, and could only be described as a chocolate lovers dream dessert. This was an indulgent combination of chocolate mousse, chocolate cake/brownie, crushed tim tams and a chocolate ganache/fudge. The textures were such an amazing combination from the smooth, light yet rich mousse to the ridiculously rich, gooey fudge type sauce I enjoyed every single mouthful. Plus who doesn't love Tim Tams?

Unfortunately I somehow managed to delete the photo of the last dessert, the caramel carnival, from my phone so a description will have to do. This creation was an ice-cream sandwich based on the timeless toffee apple. Two crispy, sweet wafers with a smooth, creamy ice-cream rippled with fresh toffee apple pieces and topped with salted caramel sauce and fairy floss. The highlight of this was the toffee apple pieces in the ice-ream, they were frozen so had a really unique crunchy/iced texture that provided an interesting contrast to the ice-cream. The salted caramel is also worth a mention with perfectly balanced sweet-salty flavours and a sticky texture but to be fair every dessert I have had here that has had a salted caramel has been amazing.

Overall another epically fun and delicious night at Eggless. This place is an Adelaide institution and still remains one of my all time favourite destinations to indulge my sweet tooth.
